Piren: A Harmonious Residential House

Intertwining Spaces and Natural Materials

The Piren residential house, designed by Maciej Basalygo, is a unique and harmonious living space that combines functionality, aesthetics, and a deep connection with nature. With its interpenetration of functional zones and use of natural materials, Piren creates a serene and intimate atmosphere for its residents. This award-winning design showcases the perfect balance between form and function, making it a true masterpiece in residential architecture.

The inspiration for Piren came from conversations between the designer and the homeowners, where their passions, experiences, and plans were translated into spatial solutions. The design focuses on the presence of light in the interiors, intentional combinations of materials, proportions, and control of sound propagation. These deliberate choices emphasize the functions and specific pace of life of the household members. The main ideas behind Piren are nature, freedom, comfort, penetration, and freshness.

What sets Piren apart from other residential designs is its non-obvious and harmonious space. The interpenetration of functional zones facilitates mutual relations between the residents and creates a seamless flow throughout the house. Built with natural materials, such as specially tinted ash wood and granite floor slabs in the color of volcanic tuff, Piren exudes a sense of warmth and elegance. Individually designed furniture elements further enhance the uniqueness of the interior architecture, providing zones of peace and intimacy.

Piren is not just aesthetically pleasing; it also incorporates hidden technology that ensures the highest quality of living. The entire functioning of the house, including air quality, lighting, temperature, and sound, is carefully monitored and controlled. This intentional integration of technology allows the residents to enjoy a comfortable and convenient lifestyle without compromising the design's visual appeal.

The realization of Piren involved meticulous attention to detail and the use of advanced construction techniques. The technical infrastructure of the building was cleverly concealed, allowing the design to take center stage. The whiteness of the walls serves as a canvas to reflect light and display artistic works, creating a gallery-like atmosphere within the house.

Spread over three floors, with approximately 450 square meters of space, Piren offers a spacious and luxurious living environment. The underground level provides additional functionality, while the above-ground floors embrace the surrounding landscape and invite natural light to fill the interiors.

Piren is more than just a house; it is a testament to the power of design in shaping emotions and creating spatial experiences. It is a place that stands the test of time, intriguing its residents even after returning from extraordinary experiences. By opening and closing the glass openings, the symbiosis between the architecture and the outside world can be controlled, allowing for a seamless connection with nature.

Located in Poznan, Poland, the design work for Piren took 12 months to complete. Throughout the process, the designer conducted extensive research to ensure that the design met the highest standards of safety, comfort, naturalness, and perfection. The result is a truly remarkable residential house that balances boundaries and invites exploration.

Piren, with its intertwining spaces, natural materials, and hidden technology, is a testament to the power of design in creating a harmonious and luxurious living environment. It is a place where nature and architecture coexist, providing a sanctuary for its residents. Maciej Basalygo's exceptional design has rightfully earned Piren the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to improving the quality of life.
