FootSync: A Revolutionary Multifunctional App

Designed by Carlos Jimenez Garcia, FootSync Transforms Interactive Light Experience into a Portable System

The inspiration behind FootSync came from the Footlight Square project, a unique initiative that uses interactive lights to create cognitive games aimed at preventing neurological diseases. FootSync was born out of the need to make these benefits accessible even when away from Footlight Square. The app provides access to cognitive games, tracks progress, synchronizes stats, and allows users to register for activities.

FootSync's design process involved the use of programs like Sketch, Photoshop, and After Effects. The methodology began with conceptualizing and conducting a necessities analysis, followed by organizing the UI around the results. The design is responsive, adapting to fit every device and screen, making it a versatile tool for users.

The app implements a near "Buttonless" design, reducing the use of buttons and relying on gestures for most scenarios. This makes the paths to the desired destinations within the UI easier to remember, enhancing the user experience.

The project started in September 2020 in Madrid and was completed in May 2021. It was presented and revisited in 2021 and 2022 on different occasions and received positive feedback. The design faced the challenge of translating the appeal and feeling of using real interactive lights into an app, without creating an overwhelming and exhausting experience. This led to careful selection of visual elements and their use in the interface, resulting in an eye-catching appearance.

FootSync was awarded the Golden A' Mobile Technologies, Applications and Software Design Award in 2023. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
