The Beauty Of Collage residence, designed by Kai-Hui Chang, showcases the unique and captivating use of tiles to create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. The client's love for tiles is evident throughout the space, with different colors, textures, and shapes coming together in a stunning collage. The tiles are not only used on the floors and walls but also integrated into various elements of the home, such as the dining room, the TV cabinet wall in the bedroom, and the walkway vista.

One of the standout features of this design is the inclusion of a fireplace, which holds emotional meaning for the client. Living abroad for an extended period, the client desired a fireplace that would bring warmth and a sense of home. The designer strategically placed the fireplace in an area where the family spends most of their time together, with an inclined design that faces the living room and dining room. This positioning symbolizes embracing and creates a focal point for the space.

The realization of the Beauty Of Collage design involved the use of various building materials, including tiles, artistic coating, iron parts, iron pipes, and glass. The tiles themselves are diverse, ranging from porcelain tiles to wood grain tiles, hexagonal tiles, vintage tiles, and cultural tiles. Each type of tile possesses its own unique texture, color, and shape, contributing to the overall aesthetic of the space. The designer expertly combined these tiles with an artistic coating, creating a vivid imagery that perfectly complements the tiles' characteristics.

The Beauty Of Collage residence is located in Taiwan and was completed in August 2017. The project involved transforming a 15-year-old apartment on the 7th floor, with a total area of 105.7 square meters. The original layout of the public area was narrow, with a closed-off kitchen and a large beam on the living room ceiling. To address these challenges, the designer repositioned the kitchen opening, removed excess facade to enlarge the master bedroom bathroom, and created a more flexible living room layout. The result is a more comfortable and spacious public space.

This design is a testament to the designer's meticulous planning and aesthetic sense. The client's favorite tiles are showcased in every corner of the residence, with each tile's characteristics brought to the forefront. The tiles symbolize the shared happiness of the family, always present in their daily lives. The combination of industrial style and the texture of the tiles gives the space a fascinating and refined look, creating a truly unique and captivating home.

Beauty Of Collage has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category.
