Wash Base 718: A Unique Blend of Cafe and Laundromat

A Seamless Connection Between Relaxation and Chores

Located near the beach, the Wash Base 718 has the potential to transform the atmosphere of its neighborhood. Designed by Shunsuke Ohe, this innovative space combines the functionalities of a cafe and a laundromat, seamlessly connected without any boundaries.

The Wash Base 718 stands out with its fresh coloring, reminiscent of a beach house by the sea. The main colors of white, natural brown, and bright blue-green accents create a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. This complex serves as a landmark in the community, attracting guests of all ages and backgrounds for social exchange and relaxation.

With an area of 162.65 sqm, the Wash Base 718 offers a variety of seating options. Bench seats, counter seats, table seats, and outdoor terrace seats are strategically placed throughout the space, ensuring ample room for guests. The design also includes a children's area, providing a convenient and comfortable environment for parents to take care of their laundry while their children play.

The walls and floors of the Wash Base 718 are finished with stain-resistant and hygienic PVC, making maintenance a breeze. This choice of materials ensures a clean and welcoming environment for all visitors. The space is designed to accommodate different activities, whether it's enjoying a cup of tea while waiting for laundry, catching up with friends on the outdoor terrace, or working remotely at the counter table.

Shunsuke Ohe's Wash Base 718 is not just a functional space; it is a testament to the power of design to transform communities. The colorful facility stands out in an area lined with old buildings, bringing a fresh and modern aesthetic to the neighborhood. Its popularity among locals and visitors alike speaks to its success as a social hub and a place for relaxation.

The Wash Base 718 was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Wash Base 718 truly contributes to improving the quality of life in its community and beyond.
