Inner Peace: A Multifunctional Poster by Te-Sian Shih

Bringing Calmness and Healing Through Art

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many people have experienced significant hardships and are in need of finding inner peace. Te-Sian Shih, a talented graphic designer, was approached by musician Cho-Liang Lin and his Taipei Music Academy and Festival to create a poster that would convey a sense of calmness and healing. Shih's design features an abstract peace dove created using lines, symbolizing the power of music to heal the heart.

The poster's background color is a soothing blue, reminiscent of a magnificent ocean. The lines used in the design represent the healing properties of music, allowing individuals to immerse themselves in a world of tranquility when listening to melodies. The main visual of the peace dove can be interpreted in different ways, encouraging viewers to engage with the artwork and find their own meaning. It can be seen as a peace dove or even as a lily flower, both symbols of peace.

Using Illustrator software, Te-Sian Shih meticulously crafted the main visual and the entire poster. Her experience in life and her understanding of the need for spiritual healing influenced her design choices. The result is a visually striking poster that captures the essence of inner peace and invites viewers to reflect and find solace.

The challenges faced during the creation of this poster extended beyond the design process. Te-Sian Shih had to navigate intellectual property rights and authorization issues with contract owners. However, with the support of lawyers and organizations in Taiwan, she was able to overcome these challenges and ensure a smooth communication process.

Te-Sian Shih's Inner Peace poster has garnered recognition and acclaim. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023 in the category of Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design. This prestigious award acknowledges the creativity and ingenuity of the design, as well as its contribution to improving the quality of life.
