Od Ana: A Versatile Lighting Design by Cenk Ahmet Kaya

Integrating Simplicity and Functionality

Od Ana, designed by Cenk Ahmet Kaya, is a lighting fixture that embodies simplicity and versatility. It is a light source that can adapt to any interior space, using simple components and techniques. The design philosophy behind Od Ana is to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing lighting solution that can be easily manipulated according to the end user's needs.

One of the unique features of Od Ana is its anthropomorphic structure, allowing it to be used as a desk lamp, table lamp, or floor lamp. The articulated structure and movable feet enable users to adjust the position and angle of the light source, providing flexibility and customization.

Od Ana is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans, using high-quality materials. The light box is crafted using a wood spindle moulding technique, while the base cylindrical legs are formed using a wood-turning lathe. The refined spruce wood is treated with a water-based varnish, giving it a luscious gleam. The stainless steel metal cage and legs are expertly shaped and finished with an electrostatic paint.

Not only does Od Ana excel in design and craftsmanship, but it also offers additional functionality. The packaging of Od Ana is designed to transform into functional objects that can be used in daily life. The outer wooden carry case serves as a storage element and can be transformed into a comfortable cushion for seating. The carry case also includes a specially designed cushion cover.

With dimensions of H: 387 mm, L: 235 mm, W: 218 mm and weighing 2 kg, Od Ana is a compact and lightweight lighting solution. It operates on a cable length of 2 meters and uses an E27 bulb with a voltage of 220-240 V and a frequency of 50-60 Hz (for LED bulb only).

The development of Od Ana started in March 2020 and was completed in January 2021, with all the work done in Istanbul. Throughout the design process, Cenk Ahmet Kaya conducted extensive research, testing, and fine-tuning to achieve a harmonious balance between form, function, and aesthetic.

Od Ana has received recognition for its exceptional design and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
