Admonter Floor: Redefining Wood Aesthetics in the Admonter Wood Floor Exhibition Hall

A Unique Blend of Natural and Artificial Materials

The Admonter Wood Floor Exhibition Hall stands out from other exhibition spaces with its innovative design approach. Zheng employs the technique of architectural scattering to redefine the relationship between the blocks in the space. By concealing the original columns with oblique angles drawn between walls, the large exhibition hall is divided into fine areas, each offering unexpected surprises around every corner.

The reception area of the exhibition hall is adorned with an ordered combination of original wood boards in various hues against modern cement walls. The stretched wood grains harmonize with the clear, concise lines and blocks, creating a visual contrast between the warmth of natural wood and the coldness of the cement wall.

Covering a total of 120 square meters, the Admonter Wood Floor Exhibition Hall is a testament to the designer's meticulous attention to detail and technical expertise. Each floor within the exhibition hall is treated as a unique work of art, allowing the exhibits themselves to express their artistic potential.

One of the design challenges overcome by Zheng was the creation of a natural light trail to guide customers through the space. Instead of relying on traditional main lamps along the main moving line, the designer connected sample lamps on the display wall to create a natural light trail, providing a more immersive and engaging experience for visitors.

The Admonter Wood Floor Exhibition Hall project commenced in July 2021 and was completed in September 2021 in Shantou. Throughout the design process, Zheng conducted extensive research on architectural principles to create height differences along the outer edge of the corridor. Additionally, a natural light film was placed over the light source to simulate the appearance of sunlight pouring in, while preserving the original color of the floor.

By choosing a color scheme that highlights the inner beauty of wood, Zheng has successfully captured the essence of nature within the exhibition hall. The store's facade, covered with a black log-textured wood veneer resembling tree bark, invites visitors to connect with nature. Every element of the interior is carefully curated to showcase the purest beauty of wood, providing a serene and immersive experience for all who enter.

The Admonter Wood Floor Exhibition Hall, designed by Weipeng Zheng, is a testament to the harmonious blend of art, architecture, and design. It has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges the outstanding contribution of the design in incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, ultimately enhancing the quality of life and making the world a better place.
