The inspiration behind Waggner Coffee's packaging design stems from the understanding that consumers seek more than just a brand name. The team at Wallrus Design Studio recognized the need to create a design that would attract the viewer's eye and establish an emotional connection on the shelf.
Waggner Coffee, a German brand, caters to coffee enthusiasts who rely on the beverage to meet their caffeine needs, often staying up late for work. The brand logo depicts a deer sitting in its house, savoring a cup of coffee with a warm light glowing in the background. Drawing inspiration from this concept and incorporating elements of old German wooden windows, the packaging design for Waggner Coffee took shape.
The packaging is realized through rotogravure-printing on metalized coffee pouches, resulting in a visually striking product. With dimensions of 100mm width, 70mm depth, and 280mm height, the packaging is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Waggner Coffee's packaging design stands out on the shelf, leaving a lasting impression on consumers. By utilizing familiar elements and conducting consumer research, the design team ensured that the packaging resonates with the target audience. The emotional connection established through the design enhances the overall coffee-drinking experience.
The project commenced in January 2021 and was completed in April 2021 in Iran. Throughout the design process, the team overcame challenges related to capturing the essence of the brand's origin and incorporating familiar forms into the packaging design.
With its use of linear illustrations and the brand symbol placed strategically amidst old German wooden windows, the packaging design effectively communicates the brand's story. The careful implementation of printing techniques further enhances its visual appeal, ensuring that Waggner Coffee shines brightly on the shelf, captivating the attention of consumers.
Waggner Coffee's packaging design, created by Wallrus Design Studio and led by Creative Director Matin Mirzaei, has received recognition for its excellence. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Packaging Design category in 2023. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the design's innovative and practical qualities, meeting professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
