Wei Xu and Tiantian Xu have redefined the concept of a bathroom vanity with their latest creation, the Mountain River Landscape. Drawing inspiration from the renowned Chinese painting "Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains," this design transcends conventional aesthetics, offering a 4-meter long artificial stone washbasin that evokes the undulating hills and meandering rivers of a natural landscape. The result is a bathroom that doesn't just serve its functional purpose but also transforms the space into a living work of art, promoting the integration of humanity with the natural world.

The Mountain River Landscape stands apart due to its unique properties. Eschewing standard basin sizes, the designers have crafted a wall-hung cabinet and countertop that stretch an impressive four meters in length, all without any visible seams. The material used is an independently developed skin-feel artificial stone, which is not only pleasing to the touch, resembling the warmth of human skin, but also boasts ease of cleaning and repair. This innovative one-piece molding technique ensures that dirt has no crevices to hide in, simplifying maintenance and enhancing durability.

The realization of this design was no small feat, requiring 168 hours of meticulous carving and polishing to achieve the desired effect. The basin, formed from the skin-feel artificial stone, is a marvel of modern manufacturing, while the cabinet base, constructed from North American black walnut, features a three-dimensional relief process that carves out the shapes of mountains and rivers, adding to the overall majestic ambiance of the piece.

Technical specifications further highlight the vanity's superior quality. The collaboration with German brand "Hettich" has resulted in a sliding rail system that offers a smooth experience and excellent load-bearing capacity. The walnut drawer panel is finished with an eco-friendly paint process that not only enhances the wood's natural grain but also provides waterproof and moisture-proof properties, making it ideal for the humid environment of a bathroom.

The Mountain River Landscape vanity is not just a visual delight but also a marvel of functionality. It boasts ample storage space with organized compartments for easy access to bathroom essentials. The radar-sensitive lighting system embedded within the cabinet illuminates the space with a soft glow, creating an inviting ambiance while providing assistive lighting.

Completed in October 2023 in Guangzhou, the project is a testament to the designers' commitment to sustainable development. The use of polymer composites in the skin-feel artificial stone basin aligns with global carbon reduction goals, offering a product that is environmentally responsible without compromising on style or functionality. The design's success is evident in its recognition as a Bronze winner in the A' Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design Award in 2024, a prestigious accolade that celebrates designs that significantly contribute to better living.
