GlassOn: A Revolution in LED TV Design

Vestel ID Team's Award-Winning Frameless Design

The Vestel ID Team, led by Burak Emre Altınordu and Can Uçkan Yüksel, drew inspiration from the graceful reflections on glass and metal surfaces to create GlassOn. The result is a frameless design collection that offers different design solutions in variable sizes, all featuring a glass element. The design's elegance, created through the transparency of glass, is further enhanced by metal finishes encircling the display in larger sizes.

What sets GlassOn apart from other LED TVs is its drastic reduction in thickness for its 40", 46", and 55" products. Without the traditional plastic front cover and bezel, the design establishes a direct connection between the virtual world and the audience. The entire metal frame holding the glass front enhances the design quality, offering a sleek, neat, and graceful aesthetic.

The production of GlassOn involved the use of high technology. The aluminium moulding and extrusion processes were used to produce the frame that covers the display. The front glass underwent a special coating process using nanotechnology to prevent unwanted reflections and refractions. The precision between the parts of the frame, made using different techniques, was one of the most challenging aspects of the production phase.

Despite these challenges, the Vestel ID Team successfully created a product that measures 956 mm x 39 mm x 640 mm. The team's dedication to innovation and quality has not gone unnoticed. In 2012, GlassOn was awarded Platinum in the A' Digital and Electronic Device Design Award. This prestigious accolade recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism and contribute to societal wellbeing.
