Technology devices and gadgets have inspired XiStera to become a highly useful multi-tool for your iPhone 5. A minimalistic design approach was taken in order to simplify multiple products to their purest form.
XiStera is a compact, portable, affordable, and innovative multi-tool solution for your iPhone with eight highly useful features that fit in the palm of your hand. It includes a magnetic lens adapter, phone stand, tripod mount, headphone wrap, stylus, bottle opener, key chain, and optional LED lighting. Easily pocketable, XiStera goes anywhere anytime. In today's market, this unique mobile multi-tool fits perfectly on the corner of your iPhone while allowing you to work, play, create, organize, and much more on the go.
XiStera is injection molded from TPV Santoprene, a flexible yet durable plastic material. The phone stands and headphone wrap are carefully formed into the main body. XiStera has an internal stainless steel washer for structural support, a magnetic lens adapter, bottle opener, and capacitive touch stylus tip connectivity. Additionally, two 1/4 - 20 inch threaded screw mounts are molded into XiStera for tripod and LED light mounting. Accessories include magnetic lenses such as fish-eye, macro, and wide-angle lenses made from glass and aluminum. A rechargeable LED lighting system with a 1/4 - 20 inch thread is made from ABS, aluminum, and acrylic. The key chain is made from aluminum and the lanyard from polyester. Retail packaging is printed and UV coated on cardstock with an EVA foam insert to hold XiStera and its accessories.
XiStera is marketed as a single product, including a key chain and lanyard, or with upgradable accessories such as magnetic lenses and rechargeable LED lighting. The dimensions of XiStera are 130mm x 120mm x 44mm, the key chain measures 45mm x 80mm x 40mm, the lanyard is 600mm x 50mm x 35mm, the fish-eye lens is 56mm x 56mm x 45mm, the wide-angle/macro lens is 50mm x 50mm x 42mm, the LED light is 76mm x 90mm x 42mm, and the retail packaging is 275mm x 140mm x 60mm.
XiStera is a unique multipurpose tool that offers eight useful functions to owners of the iPhone 5. It includes a capacitive stylus for precise touchscreen operation, two notches to prop up the iPhone in landscape or portrait view, two mounting areas to attach the Apple smartphone to a tripod in landscape or portrait view, an area to wrap and store the iPhone headphones, and a magnetic lens adapter to attach a wide-angle, fish-eye, telephoto, or macro lens. There's even a bottle opener to crack open a frosty brew at a party. In addition, the two mounting areas on XiStera can be used for screwing in extra hardware to expand the tool's core functionality. For example, an attachment can be installed on the portrait mount in order to use XiStera as a key chain. There is also a version of XiStera that comes with a 32-LED light panel, specifically used for illuminating subjects when filming or taking photos. Beyond those accessories, a few different mounts can be used on the windshield or dashboard of a car as well as clamp onto a bike. All three of those mounts come with a stretchable material that wraps around the outside of the iPhone to hold it in place. This would be ideal for rocky terrain when riding a mountain bike or when driving on a bumpy road. XiStera is customizable with multiple color options for the different types of lenses, stylus tips, and the bands that wrap around the iPhone when on the mounts. XiStera is made from a shiny, hard rubber that will lock the iPhone 5 safely into place.
Creating XiStera came with its fair share of challenges. The goal was to create an innovative and affordable device for the iPhone that has multiple functions and fits in the palm of your hand. The design process involved a minimalistic approach and matching the tight tolerances and precision of Apple. Numerous design progressions and prototypes were created to ensure the device's functionality and usability. XiStera has been crowd tested and crowd funded, providing critical data and feedback from early adopters and top tech sites. After making small changes to perfect the material and fit, production began, and XiStera is now available on the market.
XiStera has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2014. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
