Ludovico Office: A Masterpiece of Space-Saving Design

Claudio Sibille's Award-Winning Furniture Piece Combines Functionality and Aesthetics

Introducing the Ludovico Office, a unique piece of furniture that ingeniously combines a drawer, chair, and desk into one compact unit. Designed by Claudio Sibille, this innovative design is a testament to the power of simplicity and functionality. Inspired by Scandinavian design and Pittamiglio's castle logic, this piece is a marvel of space-saving design.

The Ludovico Office stands out for its unique properties. Its main feature is the extraction of the chair from the main furniture body, a design element that not only saves space but also adds an element of surprise. When the chair is not in use, it blends seamlessly with the rest of the furniture, giving the appearance of additional drawers. This clever design makes the Ludovico Office a full mini, easy-transportable office that can be moved from one end of a home to the other with ease.

The Ludovico Office is made from Eucalyptus Finger Joint, a material chosen for its sustainability, green impact, strength, toughness, stability, and attractive appearance. The precise construction of the furniture, with millimeter-perfect gaps between the chair and the main body, showcases the material's stability and strength.

The operation of this unit is simple yet unexpected. The chair is subtly intertwined with the main body of the cabinet. When the chair is filed, it becomes part of the furniture, giving the appearance of two more drawers. Only when extracted, the empty spaces of the main cabinet used to house the chair become visible. The cabinet also consists of a folding table, which can be used for work, reading, eating, etc. In short, this compact unit transforms into a full desktop in a blink of an eye.

The design of the Ludovico Office started in August 2011 in Montevideo and was completed in October of the same year. The project's main challenge was to create a unique, original, and simple solution for space saving unlike anything else on the market. After many geometrical drawings and sketches, Sibille came up with the idea of a chair within a box, a simple yet ingenious solution that maximizes space usage.

The Ludovico Office has been recognized for its innovative design, winning the prestigious Golden A' Furniture Design Award in 2012. This award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
