Grapevine House

Wine Testing Facility

The "Grapevine House" is a unique wine testing facility designed by Peter Stasek Architect in Luxembourg. Inspired by an old grapevine root, the design features a digital fabricated sculpture that serves as the main supporting column of the building. This concept symbolizes the connection between the building's function and the surrounding vineyard.

The "Grapevine House Concept" takes advantage of the air space above the vineyard while minimizing the use of the available plot area. The design of the supporting column resembles artificial nature, creating a harmonious link between the suspended building and the landscape.

The construction of the Grapevine House relies heavily on digital fabrication and high-tech materials. The use of these technologies ensures precision and durability, essential for a project of this nature.

The Grapevine House measures 23.5 meters in length, 13 meters in depth, and 11 meters in height. Its continuous glass front provides unobstructed views of the vineyard, enhancing the wine tasting experience by immersing visitors in the surrounding landscape.

The design team behind the Grapevine House includes Luana Kroner-Stasek as the interior designer, Dimitrios Ciatipis as the architect, and Stefan Möller as the lighting designer. Other contributors to the project include Unikat Interior Luxembourg and Pixject Digital Technology Co.

The Grapevine House represents an innovative interpretation of a wine testing facility, combining corporate architecture with environmental considerations. The research conducted for this project aimed to improve the functionality and appearance of such facilities while prioritizing environmental sustainability.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was convincing the building owner of the value and significance of the sophisticated sculptural construction. Additionally, the design aimed to serve as a label backing for the winery products, further enhancing their branding and market appeal.

The Grapevine House, with its abstract grape-like form, stands gracefully above the vineyard. Its unique design and attention to detail make it a standout architectural masterpiece. The Silver A' Design Award it received in 2014 further validates its excellence and innovation in the field of architecture, building, and structure design.
