Swan Bath: A Unique and Functional Bathroom Design

A Multifunctional Bath Complex Inspired by the Grace of Swans

Inspired by the esthetic curling lines of swans, designer Ece Cokca has created Swan Bath, a unique and functional bathroom design that combines different sanitary units into a single esthetic unit.

Swan Bath is a revolutionary bathroom design that breaks away from traditional layouts. Instead of placing bathroom elements on different walls, Cokca has gathered them around a cylindrical column, inspired by the body of a swan. The curved plates, representing the neck and wings of the swan, serve as functional blocks that house the toilette, sink, shower, and towel hanging areas.

One of the key advantages of Swan Bath is its versatility. The design can be adapted to bathrooms of different sizes, making it suitable for both small and large spaces. The cylindrical column not only carries the different bathroom elements but also serves as a cover for the water pipes and drainage pipes inside, creating a clean and streamlined look.

The cylindrical column, made of stainless steel, extends from the ceiling to the floor and houses a structural system consisting of box profiles. The curved blocks, which can be made from materials such as lacquered laminated plywood or DuPont Corian, are supported by metal profiles underneath. These profiles are connected to the profiles inside the cylindrical column, forming firm supports for the blocks.

Swan Bath's technical specifications include an 80 cm wide and 200 cm long curved block with a thickness of 4 cm. The cylindrical column has a diameter of 60 cm and extends to the height of the bathroom. While stainless steel is the recommended material for the column, it can also be made of aluminum or plexiglass, as it does not carry any loads.

The functionality of Swan Bath is enhanced by its smart design. All the necessary pipes for water supply and drainage are placed inside the cylindrical column, creating a clean and clutter-free bathroom space. For multistory houses, the main pipes can be continuous between the floors, while for houses with pipes located in a shaft next to a wall, a suspended ceiling is necessary to hide the extension pipes from the cylinder to the shaft.

Swan Bath was designed by Ece Cokca, an innovative designer based in Istanbul, Turkey. The design project started in January 2010 and was completed in February 2012. Throughout the design process, Cokca focused on creating a unique and functional bathroom design, conducting extensive research on technical details and overcoming challenges related to material selection and pipe placement.

This exceptional bathroom design has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity. Swan Bath was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category in 2013. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.

Swan Bath is not only a visually stunning design but also a practical solution for those seeking a unique and functional bathroom. Its combination of art, innovation, and technology makes it a standout choice for manufacturers and clients who appreciate distinctive designs.
