Revolutionizing Corporate Architecture: The Ajando Next Level CRM Loft

Quantum Physics and Architecture Merge in Peter Stasek's Award-Winning Design

In a world where information is the building block of our universe, renowned architect Peter Stasek and Loftwerk have created a unique corporate architecture concept for Ajando's loft in Mannheim harbor district. This article explores the inspiration, unique properties, and realization technology behind this groundbreaking design.

John A. Wheeler, a renowned quantum physicist, once claimed that our world is not made of material, but information. This notion served as the inspiration for the Ajando loft. The design team recognized that information is not only the essence of our world but also the essence of Ajando, a company that thrives on data visualization and information flow. The architects made these data and information flows visible in their corporate architecture concept.

The layout of the rooms reflects this concept. Following the motto of famous Viennese architect Josef M. Hoffmann, "The concept for the paths and the room are one and the same," the loft guides visitors directly to the place where information is maintained, consulted, processed, and forwarded. This makes the Ajando loft a live cross-media platform in real life with perfect usability, fostering social and informative convergence, dialogue, and the sharing of ideas.

What sets this design apart is its unique interpretation of information visualization. The lighting design, for instance, was developed under the motto "Light as a wave, light as a particle." Single-color, wave-shaped LED strips illuminate the outer walls draped with textile, while sound installations add another aesthetic dimension. The brick masonry opposite shines in colored light as a contrast. White snowflakes fall softly and continuously in the half-open stairway shell – a projection of light. This mirrors the information flow at Ajando and displays the complete strategy of the company as a binding and never resting element.

The design also features a special light design in the conference room, where wave patterns are created by the structure of light generated behind a textile wall covering. The 7.4 x 4-meter large glass wall in the reception area features a wave graphic in the shape of a foil printing. The gyro-grid pattern, developed in collaboration with Patric Günther from Voxel Studio Detmold, symbolizes digitalized, globally active networking.

This innovative design has not gone unnoticed. The Ajando Next Level CRM loft was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2014. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, advancing art, science, design, and technology, and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.

In conclusion, the Ajando loft is a testament to the power of information and the potential of architecture to visualize it. This design serves as a reminder that the world we live in is not just physical, but also informational, and that architecture can play a crucial role in making this information tangible and visible.
