The db60 project started in February 2012 and was launched on Kickstarter in June 2013. The design team, consisting of Lars Lynggaard Christensen, Jakob Normand, Frederick Rickmann, Bjarke Mejnertsen, Sherry Chin, Patrick Johansen, and Cosmina Elena Rotaru, utilized their extensive experience in designing products for the speaker industry to create a speaker that meets the needs and expectations of modern users.

The db60 speaker has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2013.
