Beetle: The All-in-One Bluetooth Earphones and Speaker

On the other hand, the Bluetooth speaker is designed to seamlessly fit into any indoor space, thanks to its modern shape and fabric cover.

What sets Beetle apart from other products is its ability to charge the earphones and play music simultaneously. By simply inserting the earphones into the speaker, users can enjoy uninterrupted music while the earphones are being charged. This innovative feature is made possible by the wireless charging technology incorporated into Beetle.

Siwon Kim's design process focused on two main aspects. Firstly, Beetle aims to provide users with new and exciting user experiences in their daily lives. By combining the functionalities of earphones and a speaker into one device, Beetle offers convenience and versatility. Secondly, Beetle is designed to be more than just a functional device. Its modern and simple form allows it to exist as an object, seamlessly blending into any space. The fabric cover adds a warm and inviting touch, enhancing the overall user experience.

The technical specifications of Beetle are as follows: the earphones measure 55mm x 20mm x 24.5mm, while the speaker measures 85mm x 200mm. The design incorporates Bluetooth technology, allowing Beetle to connect with other devices effortlessly. Users can control Beetle through the connected device, further enhancing the user experience.

The Beetle project began in June 2017 and was completed in August 2017, with further enhancements made in February 2018. Siwon Kim conducted extensive research to ensure the technical feasibility of the design. Collaborating with engineering students and professionals, Kim sought advice and guidance to overcome any challenges that arose during the design process.

Beetle has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Digital and Electronic Device Design category in 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
