Dental INN - a therapy-lounge

An Innovative Concept in Dental Practice Design

The Dental INN project, designed by Peter Stasek Architect, introduces a new concept of interior design for dental practices, focusing on the healing effects of organic shapes and natural structures.

The Dental INN is a dental facility located in Viernheim, Germany, designed as a therapy-lounge for dental beauty. The project was primarily developed for Dr. Bergmann, an internationally accredited implant dentist, who not only offers dental treatments but also provides symposia on implantology for young dental surgeons from around the world.

The practice spans approximately 300 square meters and features six treatment rooms, a sterilization room, a conference room, a patient lounge, and a multifunctional island at its center. The island serves as a reception desk, an x-ray room, a back office, and a kitchenette, all seamlessly integrated into its organic shape.

The main highlight of the practice's interior design is the organically shaped island, surrounded by transparent glass walls. The walls are adorned with a monochrome overprint of the Viernheim forest, creating a serene and natural ambiance. This forest structure serves as the backbone of the design, evoking a positive effect on the clients' minds.

Another notable feature is the floor covering, created using a self-leveling compound made of several color components. The result is a continuous and jointless floor that pays homage to a forest glade with its freehand design patterns.

The color and lighting concept further enhance the interior design. The entire color palette, including the walls, floor covering, and ceiling, is based on non-colors, such as white, anthracite, and shades of gray. The dental equipment surfaces are silver-gray, harmonizing with the overall design. The lighting concept includes both basic room lighting and LED illumination of the practice island, with programmable color scenarios. The color orange, derived from the Dental INN emblem, is incorporated through small pieces of furniture and staff uniforms.

To create a relaxing environment, a sound concept has been implemented in all treatment rooms, the conference room, and the lounge. This unique composition of audio and visual elements contributes to the overall relaxation of both clients and staff.

The Dental INN project successfully combines innovative design elements with functional requirements, creating a dental practice that goes beyond traditional expectations. It offers a serene and welcoming space, promoting a sense of well-being for both patients and practitioners.

The Dental INN project, designed by Peter Stasek Architect, received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2014 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design. This award recognizes designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements.
