The inspiration for Risky shop came from Antonina and Klara, the owners of Risk.MadeInWarsaw. Their innovative approach to fashion and business, as well as their collaboration with smallna, sparked the idea of creating an upside down showroom. The designers combined extraordinary fashion pieces with a unique vintage collection in an unexpected way, turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.
The interior of Risky shop is arranged against all the rules, even defying gravity. Steel pipes, painted by Polish artist Dariusz Fiet, fly in the sky and are attached to the walls, creating an illusion of an upside down space. The composition of the pipes showcases the risky clothes, while also expanding the visual space of the showroom. The exhibition area is complemented by a conference area and a VIP coffee nook, furnished with rare vintage pieces from the 50s to the 80s.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was hanging the upside down room, complete with furniture and lighting, in a minimalistic way without any visible joints or screws. Additionally, creating a cloakroom from grey risky fabric that can be seen from both standard and switched points of view required careful attention to detail to avoid damaging the soft wall covered with fabric.
Risky shop has gained recognition in the design community and beyond. It was showcased on numerous design websites and featured in design magazines worldwide. In 2014, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding creativity, innovation, and technical expertise demonstrated by Risky shop.
With its unconventional design, Risky shop challenges the traditional notions of retail spaces. It creates a unique and engaging environment that perfectly reflects the spirit of the Risk.MadeInWarsaw brand. By combining fashion, art, and design, smallna has created a truly remarkable showroom that leaves visitors in awe and wonder.
