Reviving an Almost Forgotten Tradition in a Contemporary Design

Björn Ischi, with his label "renewable Swiss traditions," aims to revive these old customs and bring them back into the spotlight. One such tradition is cow riding, which inspired Ischi to create the unique rocking cow.

The rocking cow combines the classic concept of a rocking chair with the charm of a cow, resulting in a contemporary design that reintroduces the almost forgotten tradition to people of all ages. The design is made from wood, making it suitable for indoor use. Additionally, plans are underway to create a metal version for outdoor use, catering to urban dwellers and children.

Measuring 840 mm in length and 325 mm in width, the rocking cow consists of 11 layers of wood panels, meticulously crafted to ensure both aesthetic appeal and functionality. By incorporating this design into everyday products, Ischi aims to create a connection between old Swiss traditions and the modern lifestyle.

The realization of the rocking cow required extensive research and collaboration with local trading companies and craftsmen in Switzerland. By keeping the production within the country, Ischi ensures that the design stays true to its Swiss roots and supports the local economy.
