Hospitality Interiors: A Contemporary Fusion of Tradition and Innovation

An Earthy Look with a Touch of Nostalgia

The eating-out culture has gained tremendous momentum over the years. People have become very adventurous in their food choices and experiment with different cuisine styles from across the world. Theme decors are fun; but can get monotonous over time. In that sense, a contemporary styling manages to interest patrons more; and that is necessary to draw them to the F&B outlet over and over again. As a result, natural, recycled materials and objects are seen woven into the contemporary fabric.

In a restaurant, the sensory perceptions of the space dominate the level of appeal. With simplicity as the primary guiding factor, Ketan Jawdekar (Studio K-7) chose an earthy look and introduced splashes of bold colors through various elements such as traditional local artifacts and displays. The cleverly designed lighting pattern enhances the divine experience generated through organic components like wood and stones. The overall experience is quite emotive without compromising on the functional and visual factors.

Design for Ketan Jawdekar (Studio K-7) is a combination of desire, enthusiasm, simplicity, innovation, grace, and necessity. Natural materials like stone, wood, earth, and water are played with in their raw state. The fusion of traditional earthy elements with a contemporary design as a base creates a poetic ambiance in the restaurants.

The restaurants designed by Ketan Jawdekar (Studio K-7) include Trikaya, Wah Marathi, Kiva, Dalchini Elevate, and Tiffins. These spaces range from 200 to 1300 square meters, each with its unique charm and character.

Restaurant décor is a highly challenging area of design. The aesthetics chosen need to appeal to the patrons and stay fresh and interesting over time. Ketan Jawdekar (Studio K-7) understands the importance of thoroughly understanding the client's brief and adapting it sensitively to the décor. By sharing their experience and expertise, the designers add value to the project. The base for the styling is kept contemporary, with certain elements lending nostalgic touches without compromising on function.

Established in 1995, Ketan Jawdekar (Studio K-7) is a design cell of young and dynamic entrepreneurs implementing innovative ideas for the finest creations. The company specializes in hospitality interiors, and the restaurants designed and completed by Studio K-7 were done between 2009 and 2013.

The design process involves extracting essential elements from regional culture and infusing contemporary styling with a touch of rural areas. The use of indigenous materials and traditional construction techniques is a key design decision. Ketan Jawdekar (Studio K-7) strives to balance eco-friendly, biodegradable, and recycled materials without compromising on functionality and aesthetics.

Functionality and longevity are of utmost importance to Ketan Jawdekar (Studio K-7). The design needs to be simple, functional, and able to stay fresh for generations. The use of natural materials in their raw state works well, with a contemporary design as the base.

Founded by Ar.
