Natural Charm SPA: A Blend of Southeast Asian and Modern Chinese Style

Creating a High-End Health Leisure Experience

Cheng drew inspiration from the local cultural elements of Xiang Lake and Chinese traditions to create a space that exudes tranquility and liveliness. The design incorporates arc lines, which not only expand the space but also infuse it with a vibrant aura. The result is a harmonious blend of distinctive features and styles that create an inclusive and inviting ambiance.

One of the standout features of the Natural Charm SPA is the use of curved lines throughout the space. The entrance is adorned with these lines, evoking a sense of flowing water and artistic beauty. Behind a large-scale hollow oak screen, clusters of green plants add a touch of natural charm. An arc oak ceiling, adorned with a piece of art hanging scroll, further enhances the tranquil atmosphere.

In the reception area, guests are greeted by a wavy stone wall, a curved multi-person sofa, and a doughnut-shaped coloprhony onyx platform. The spatial layout is fluid, reminiscent of water, and provides a cool and refreshing ambiance. The elliptical crystal chandelier adds a touch of elegance, while the simple dark brown coffee table and elegant sofa cushions reflect a modern Chinese style.

The treatment rooms in the Natural Charm SPA feature a dominant wood color, accompanied by deep tones of blue and red. Teak material is used for the walls and ceilings, creating a sense of mystery and relaxation. Chinese-style art frames with mother-of-pearl accents add a touch of elegance, seamlessly integrating modern Chinese artistic elements. Abstract hanging scrolls add a soft and regional touch, allowing guests to immerse themselves in a different cultural experience while enjoying their spa treatments.

The Natural Charm SPA spans an area of 230 sq.m. and includes a multifunctional hair salon, two double SPA rooms, and one single SPA room. Each room is equipped with private facilities, allowing guests to fully enjoy their private leisure space. The double SPA rooms even feature private bathtubs.

Throughout the design process, Cheng focused on sustainability and environmental friendliness. The choice of features and materials was carefully considered to ensure a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality. The Natural Charm SPA not only offers authentic Southeast Asian spa experiences but also serves as a gateway to leisure and relaxation for its guests.

The project was initiated in October 2011 and completed in April 2012 in Xiang Lake, Hangzhou. Despite the tight schedule, Cheng's passion for design and his dedication to creating a spa that touches the hearts of guests allowed for the successful completion of the project within a short lead time.

The Natural Charm SPA has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2014. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life.
