Fallen Bird: A Unique Low Table by Triangles in (E)motion André Verroken

Unveiling the Beauty of Geometric Art

Fallen Bird is a low table design that combines the elegance of geometric art with functionality, created by Triangles in (E)motion André Verroken. Inspired by music and geometric art, this design captures the essence of artistic expression and infuses it into a practical piece of furniture.

Just like Immanuel Kant, André Verroken starts with an aesthetic idea that gives his work its soul. He follows his own path, intuitively and emotionally involved in a specific theme. Triangles in (E)motion is a story that begins with a solid geometric shape - the equilateral triangle. Unlike other designs, Fallen Bird preserves the integrity of the triangle by not cutting its points of support. This design distills various forms that can serve as stools, tables, and even abstract geometric entities that function as visual art.

Fallen Bird and its companion piece, the STOOL, are both realized using computer-directed machinery. The STOOL requires four identical equilateral triangles made from 18mm thick MDF. The dimensions of the triangles vary depending on the desired height, with options of 38cm or 42cm. Fallen Bird, on the other hand, utilizes six triangles and six semi-triangles to create its unique structure.

The specifications of the STOOL include a height of 38cm, with each triangle measuring 46.55cm x 46.55cm x 46.55cm. The material used is natural varnished MDF. Fallen Bird, on the other hand, measures 60cm x 60cm x 60cm x 60cm x 60cm x 60cm x 26.5cm in height (approximately 120cm x 108cm). It is made from satin lacquered MDF. Both designs are packaged in cardboard boxes for easy transportation.

André Verroken's work is characterized by its complexity and timelessness. It transcends the boundaries of traditional design, offering a unique perspective that goes beyond mere consumption. The spiritual essence of his designs resonates with those who appreciate beauty and seek pieces of furniture that have a soul.

Interacting with Fallen Bird goes beyond its physical presence. The design has gained recognition through publications in magazines and intelligent analyses. Currently, a documentary about André Verroken's work is being produced by cineast Gerrit Messiaen, known for his films "Lucien Hervè, photographer despite himself" and "A journey with Paul Cox." This documentary will further explore the depth and significance of Verroken's designs.

The project "Triangles in (E)motion" began in 2006 and continues to evolve with new additions such as dining tables. The design has been showcased at prestigious events such as the 6th design triennial "belgium is design" at Grand Hornu and is currently displayed at the 3-Michelin Stars restaurant "Hof van Cleve" under the watchful eye of Peter Goossens.

André Verroken's passion for beauty and his background as an interior architect and designer have driven him to create timeless pieces of furniture with spirit and soul. His work is a testament to his dedication and creativity, resulting in designs that are both visually stunning and functional.

Fallen Bird and the entire "Triangles in (E)motion" collection have received numerous accolades, including the Bronze A' Design Award in 2014. This award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skill, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
