The Knotch project began in September 2013 and was completed in February 2014 in Hong Kong SAR. Throughout the design process, Akira Deng and Samson So conducted extensive research, gathering feedback from friends, family, and other individuals to ensure that the final product met the needs and preferences of its target audience. The designers faced various challenges, including balancing aesthetics with functionality and breaking away from traditional watch design conventions. However, their dedication and innovative thinking resulted in a truly groundbreaking product.

Knotch has received recognition for its exceptional design. In 2014, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges Knotch's outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving the quality of life for its users.
