Atletica, a major Mexican sportswear company, needed a new workspace identity that would foster collaboration and increase connectivity among its staff. To achieve this, designer Claudina Flores drew inspiration from the rich sports culture in Mexico, where many athletes come from modest origins and persevere to become successful.
The design concept for Atletica Sportswear's offices focused on creating an open and flexible space that would encourage knowledge sharing and collaboration. The company's offices are divided into two sites, each tailored to suit different activities in public or private areas. This innovative approach allows staff members to work together effectively and enhances their sense of belonging.
Estudio Claudina Flores utilized a combination of reclaimed and recycled materials from the sports and urban scene to bring the design to life. Wood beams were repurposed to create furniture, while concrete floors, glass, metal sheets/meshes, OSB particle boards, sport benches, stadium lockers, and neon signs added vibrancy and character to the workspace.
The spatial concept of the company's offices is divided into two main sites. Site A, located on the ground floor, spans 256.70 m2 and is dedicated to the director and high-level executives of the administration, finance, and commerce departments. Site B, spanning 829.48 m2 across the ground floor and first floor, is designed for executives of operations, product design, marketing, advertising, operators, and engineering.
The interaction within the space is based on fluid circulation in multifunctional areas, allowing employees to feel motivated and increase their performance. The design provides a variety of areas tailored to different tasks and purposes, reinforcing a vibrant sports culture and the company's values.
The project, which began in August 2012 and was completed in June 2013, has had a significant positive impact on Atletica Sportswear. The new workspace reflects the company's commitment to promoting sports practices and increasing the demand for sports programs in Mexico.
Estudio Claudina Flores, led by Creative and Design Director Claudina Flores, collaborated with a team of architects, designers, and interns to bring this project to life. The design has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2015, highlighting its well-designed, practical, and innovative characteristics that meet professional and industrial requirements.
Atletica Sportswear's new offices are a testament to the power of conscious interior design in creating a positive and inspiring work environment. By incorporating elements of Mexican sports culture and promoting effective teamwork, the design has not only transformed the company's workspace but also contributed to a better world.
