The inspiration behind Onebip's design lies in the recurring payment model, which allows merchants to charge subscribed users for a service or product on a periodic basis. This is achieved using mobile payments via carrier billing technology, adhering to country-specific regulations. The system's unique properties include a one-click authorisation flow on mobile and a highly converted acquisition flow on the web channel. These features have been optimised based on user behaviour, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Onebip's realization technology is comprehensive, providing support for subscription management, customer acquisition, reporting and control, integration, customer care, optimised billing technology, marketing consulting, localisation, translation, and design. The system's powerful engine is independent of the code and billing solution, enabling it to manage everything related to subscriptions efficiently.

Onebip's design specifications are robust, with a focus on mobile payments, recurring subscriptions, and online payments. The system's interaction design offers a one-click authorisation flow on mobile and a highly converted acquisition flow on the web channel. These features have been optimised based on user behaviour, ensuring a seamless user experience.

The design project was carried out in Rome and Milan, Italy, with a focus on providing the best customer acquisition flow and user experience for PC Web and Mobile Web. The design also ensures full compliance with all mobile network subscription policies and provides a customer care service through Onebip’s localised call centres. The smart billing system manages the activation and renewal of subscription services using the best billing optimization methods and smart retry rules.

Onebip faced several challenges during the design process, including the need for real-time notifications of billing and state events and error codes. The design also required a subscriber blacklisting and unblacklisting feature. Despite these challenges, Onebip was able to create a system that allows online merchants to charge their users periodically using mobile payments via carrier billing, making it a deserving winner of the Golden A' Design Award.
