Garzisi: A Multifunctional Packaging Design

Preserving the Purity of Saffron in Style

Brandlore introduces Garzisi, a unique packaging design that goes beyond traditional packaging to create a functional and elegant product. Inspired by the saffron flower, Garzisi not only preserves the purity of saffron but also enhances the overall experience of using this precious spice.

Garzisi is the brainchild of designer Pradnyaa Phadke, who wanted to create a packaging design that would not only protect saffron but also add value to the overall experience of using it. The result is a multifunctional packaging design that combines form and function in a unique and innovative way.

The primary pack of Garzisi is a glass jar that contains and preserves the saffron. It is accompanied by a wooden mortar-pestle, which serves as the cap and also allows for the grinding of saffron. The cap is designed as a sphere that rests inside the bottle for hygiene purposes, while the concave bottom part of the mortar-pestle ensures easy grinding. To pick the delicate stems out of the glass jar, Garzisi comes with specially designed tweezers.

But Garzisi is not just about functionality; it is also a visual delight. The outer packaging, inspired by the saffron flower itself, creates an extra oomph for this luxury product. The packaging unfolds like a blooming flower, revealing the beauty inside. And when turned inside out, it transforms into a display, showcasing the product in all its glory.

Garzisi is a testament to the meticulous attention to detail that Brandlore brings to its designs. The packaging is 90% artisanal, with parts made in different places around the globe. The wooden parts are made from beechwood and have the design/logo laser printed on them. The outer box is covered with a pearlized and textured, high-quality ivory-colored paper, adorned with a copper-colored hot foil. The inside of the box is decorated with a metallic textured, high-quality, copper-colored paper.

The journey of Garzisi began in November 2013, with the concept and research phase. By February 2014, the designs were finalized, and the final prototypes were ready by March 2014. Production of all the pieces was completed by June 2014, and the product was finally assembled and ready to sell in Sulmona, Italy, by July 2014.

Garzisi has received accolades for its exceptional design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2015, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. This multifunctional packaging design has truly redefined the way we experience saffron, combining functionality, elegance, and beauty in one exquisite product.
