LA Chaise Longue: A Contemporary Design of Elegance and Comfort

Unveiling the Beauty of Ergonomic Continuity

For this design, Manel Besolí & Mercè Bosch were inspired by the sinuous curves that result from ergonomic continuity, creating a chaise longue that embodies elegance and comfort. The lack of seams and joints adds to the design's perfection.

The LA Chaise Longue stands out from other designs with its unique properties and strengths. The designers chose to materialize it with the lightness and sobriety of aluminum, resulting in a highly attractive piece. The structural aluminum and the junction of the ends and profiles are reproduced with solid pieces, crafted by foundry. The sheets that dress the piece, both inside and outside, are 2mm thick, creating a seamless and sleek appearance.

The realization of the LA Chaise Longue involves the creation of two bodies: the lower floor and the upper sitting part. The profiles are bent and joined with a square tube, allowing for seamless welding of the sheets without any space problems. The four pronounced curves on the outside are introduced into the inner section of the structural profiles, reducing the chaise longue to a single piece.

With its aluminum structure, clad aluminum sheets, and smooth welding, the LA Chaise Longue showcases the perfect blend of craftsmanship and modern design. The upholstery foam on the curved wood base adds an extra layer of comfort, while the aluminum chaise is secured with six hidden screws. The dimensions of the chaise longue are 1998mm x 700mm x 760mm, with packaging dimensions of 2005mm x 740mm x 890mm.

Interacting with the LA Chaise Longue is a delight. Its raised design and attachment elements allow for easy mobility across the floor. The last layer of the seat is secured by six threaded and hidden unions, providing the desired effect of comfort. This piece is not only visually appealing but also functional.

The LA Chaise Longue project began in February 2013 and was completed in January 2014 in Barcelona. The design team, consisting of Manel Besolí and Mercè Bosch, conducted extensive research on materials and manufacturing methods before deciding on aluminum as the primary material. Overcoming challenges such as the junction of aluminum sheets with the structure and the pronounced curves at the ends, the designers achieved a contemporary and timeless design.

The LA Chaise Longue has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2015. This prestigious award is a testament to the design's excellence, innovation, and remarkable craftsmanship.

The LA Chaise Longue is a masterpiece that combines elegance, comfort, and functionality. Its sleek lines and seamless construction make it a visually stunning addition to any space. Whether used for relaxation or as a statement piece, this chaise longue is sure to captivate and impress.
