Supercar System: Revolutionizing the Future of Car Design

3D Printable E.V Supercar

Putting design, power, and play value into the hands of the people.

Supercar System, designed by Paolo Tiramani, is a groundbreaking project that aims to democratize car design and create a more customizable, customer-centric, and greener future. This innovative 3D printable electric vehicle (E.V) supercar allows non-design individuals to create their own car bodies on a grand scale, revolutionizing the way automobiles are conceived and built.

What sets Supercar System apart is its simplicity and configurability. With the Eureka feature, owners can design and 3D print their own car bodies with minimal technical or design knowledge. The process is made easy with simple guidelines and common anchor locations, ensuring that anyone can create something great. Once the design is complete, the file is uploaded to 3D-Systems, Supercar System's print partners, where full-size body panels are 3D printed.

Supercar System prioritizes both aesthetics and functionality. The polymer body panels are not only heat resistant but also feature a unique body "memory" that allows them to absorb impact bumps and minor fender benders. While the panels are currently monochromatic, future developments include color panels and multi-color finished panels, adding another level of personalization to the design.

Technical specifications of Supercar System include a Chromoley exo-skeleton wrapped Carbon Kevlar color safety cell, modular removable tank bank, and 8 perimeter impact safety zones. The car is powered by Remy HVH 475 DOM electric motors, which are stackable and scalable, allowing for varied power outputs. The design also incorporates heated, wire double-glazed glass and polymer 3D printed mono-chromatic, high deflection body paneling. With a wheelbase of 266.7cm, overall width of 201.9cm, overall length of 406.4cm, and height of 114.3cm, Supercar System ensures a thrilling driving experience.

The Supercar System project was a collaborative effort involving Paolo Tiramani as the founder, along with design engineers Andrey Chernorot, Benjamin Garson, and Fateh Merrad. Glenn Arseneau contributed to graphics and online programming, Natasha Streitz handled product coordination, and Nicolas Cochet served as the graphic designer.

Supercar System is not just a car; it is a complete system that offers a clean energy power solution with customer printable bodies and accessories. The system utilizes 3D Systems, the largest 3D technology print company, as a printing partner. The motive power comes from Remy electric engines arranged in a novel stacked configuration, providing various power outputs. Additionally, an online configurator and design tool allow customers to personalize their vehicles to their heart's content.

The Supercar System project took approximately 9 months to complete, with physical engineering and product development taking place in Hull, England, and design engineering occurring in the USA, Ukraine, France, and Algiers.

Extensive research was conducted for the 3D printing aspect of the project, including testing large-scale parts for UV erosion in sunlight, impact strength, and post-build stability in the XYZ axis. The goal was to create a sustainable, re-configurable, easy, and personal future for automotive design.

Supercar System overcame numerous challenges, including reimagining the concept of automobiles by going back to their early roots of electric engines and custom bodies. By combining clean E.V powertrain technology with customer-designed bodywork, Supercar System offers a product that is accessible to a broader audience, including people carriers, small cars, and vans.

Supercar System has received recognition for its ingenuity and creativity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2015 for 3D Printed Forms and Products Design. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contribute to quality of life improvements, and make the world a better place.

Supercar System is not just a car; it is a revolution in car design. By empowering individuals to create their own car bodies, Supercar System is paving the way for a future where customization and sustainability go hand in hand. With its innovative approach and commitment to excellence, Supercar System is set to redefine the automotive industry.
