The Geometric Collection Diamond Shades are the result of a collaboration between 13&9, a brand founded by architect Martin Lesjak and fashion designer Anastasia Su, and Martin Lasnik, an eyewear designer. These shades are a fusion of interdisciplinary design and Austrian craftsmanship, creating a truly unique and high-quality product.
The frames of the Diamond Shades are made from cellulose acetate, a durable and lightweight material. The frames are first cut using a CNC machine, then undergo rough milling to create the precise contours and facets. The final step is hand polishing the frames to achieve a flawless finish. The custom-made flat lenses, with 100% UV protection and black anti-reflective coating, are carefully implemented in the frame by hand.
The Geometric Collection Diamond Shades come in two styles for women, Brilliant Black and Ice Crystal, and two styles for men, Dim Black and 3D Gray. The dimensions of the frames are 145 mm x 66 mm x 5 mm for the female frames and 139 mm x 59 mm x 5 mm for the male frames. The collection also includes a soft case and a larger case for storage.
The Geometric Collection Diamond Shades were first showcased at the 13&9 exhibition at WantedDesign in New York City in May 2014. In 2015, a partnership was formed with Robert La Roche, a renowned eyewear company with a strong connection to the design industry. The shades made their debut at the Angel Sanchez show during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York City in February 2015 and were available on the market in March 2015.
The Geometric Collection Diamond Shades have received recognition for their innovative design. They were awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2015. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
The Geometric Collection Diamond Shades are not just eyewear; they are architectural objects and fashionable accessories that create a unique look on the wearer's face. With their precise symmetry and geometric forms, these shades push the boundaries of traditional eyewear design and offer a new perspective on conceptual eyewear.
