Calyx 48: A Wooden Lamp Inspired by Nature

The final design of the Calyx 48 lamp is reminiscent of a tulip's corolla. The shape of the lamp, including the disk, the various blades (sepals), and the bulb (pistil), is directly inspired by the botanical universe. The name "Calyx" itself has Latin origins, referring to the protective structure of a flower.

What sets the Calyx 48 lamp apart is its unique interlocking design. The parts of the lamp, made from laminated birch plywood, fit together without the need for screws or glue. Each blade has a clip that plays on the flexibility of the wood, allowing it to fit into the disk. A hook at the end of the clip ensures good preservation by fitting into a recess in the disk. The interlocking of 18 copies of blades around the disk creates a stable and free-standing structure.

The Calyx 48 lamp offers versatility in its use. It can be staged in various ways, thanks to the dimmer and the flexibility of the design. Whether placed on the floor or used as a table lamp, it adds a touch of elegance and warmth to any space.
