Baia Formosa: A Tribute to Surf Culture

A Unique Dinner Table Inspired by 60's Surf Boards

Baia Formosa, designed by Mula Preta Design, is a dinner table that pays homage to the vibrant surf culture of Natal's south coast. Inspired by the iconic shape of 60's surf boards, this table is a striking accent piece that adds a touch of coastal charm to any space.

The name Baia Formosa, meaning "beautiful bay," is derived from a beach in Natal where surfing is a popular sport among locals and tourists alike. This table captures the essence of the sport and the beauty of the surrounding beaches. Its unique design stands out and leaves a lasting impression wherever it is placed.

The Baia Formosa table is crafted using certified Freijó wood, known for its durability and natural beauty. The table is finished with automotive painting, featuring white stripes that mimic the classic surfboard design. This combination of materials and finishes creates a visually stunning piece that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Available in four different sizes, ranging from 250cm to 400cm in length, the Baia Formosa table offers versatility and can be tailored to fit various spaces. Whether it's placed in a dining room or used as a statement piece in a living room, this table adds a touch of coastal elegance and serves as a conversation starter.

The Baia Formosa table was designed by Mula Preta Design, a team led by André Gurgel and Felipe Bezerra. Their vision was to create a piece that not only functions as a table but also serves as a work of art. The table's sleek lines and unique shape make it a standout piece in any interior design.

The design process for Baia Formosa began in September 2014 and took one month to complete. The attention to detail and craftsmanship involved in its creation is evident in the final product. This dedication to quality has been recognized, as Baia Formosa was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2015. This prestigious award acknowledges the table's well-designed, practical, and innovative nature.

With Baia Formosa, Mula Preta Design has successfully captured the spirit of surf culture and translated it into a functional and visually captivating piece of furniture. This table not only serves as a gathering place for meals but also as a symbol of coastal living and the beauty of nature.
