LumiFi: Revolutionizing Lighting Control

Beatrice Witzgall's Lighting Control Software Transforms Spaces

Beatrice Witzgall, a German-trained architect with over 15 years of experience in the lighting industry, has created a revolutionary lighting control software, LumiFi, that is set to transform the way we illuminate our spaces.

Witzgall's frustration with the complexity and costs of controlling lighting led her to establish LumiFi. The company aims to bring sophisticated and smart lighting to everyone, utilizing the Internet of Things to bring connected lighting to the mass market. LumiFi is a design and technology-centric company that enables people and businesses to unlock the full potential of connected lighting.

The unique properties of LumiFi lie in its ability to offer customizable lighting moods in various settings such as hotels, homes, and offices. The technology allows users to experience fully composed lighting scenes with a simple tap on their smartphone. This is achieved by incorporating smart LED wireless bulb technology and the expertise of award-winning designers.

Witzgall’s technical background and years of experience creating lighting scenes for hospitality settings and superyachts have been instrumental in the development of LumiFi. The team has developed a patent-pending process that identifies the location, type of lighting fixture, and illumination levels. This process involves analyzing the technical parameters of lighting including wattage, lumen output, beam spreads, color temperature, and color attributes.

LumiFi stands out as it focuses on creating an experience based on various elements of scientific research. The app uses scientifically-proven lighting hues to create various preset moods, with additional customizable options. LumiFi’s patent-pending algorithm generates lighting scenes by applying different values of lighting to different fixtures in one user-friendly interface.

The design of LumiFi faced several challenges. For decades, lighting controls have been the business of programmers, 3rd party installers, electricians, and lighting designers. The most difficult part of the design of LumiFi was transforming this complex, disruptive technology into something that is as fun and simple as possible to move from the exclusivity of early adoption to mass market acceptance.

LumiFi's innovative approach to lighting control has not gone unnoticed. The design was awarded the Golden A' Mobile Technologies, Applications, and Software Design Award in 2015, a prestigious accolade granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
