Amber Around the World: A Unique Collection of Rings

Exploring the Beauty and Diversity of Amber

Amber, the stone occurring on various continents of the earth, has long fascinated jewelry enthusiasts with its warm colors and natural beauty. Polish designer Pawel Kaczynski takes this fascination to new heights with his collection of rings titled "Amber Around the World."

The main aim of the collection is to showcase amber from various corners of the world, highlighting its great variety of colors and natural beauty. Kaczynski's intention is to not only present amber in its polished form but also in its natural structure and shape. Each ring in the collection is designed to visually represent the differences typical of the regions from which the amber originates.

The rings in the collection are made using a casting model, allowing for different sizes and shapes of stones. The irregular shape of the rings allows for the stone to be set in various ways, achieving the most practical form. The amber stones are polished using different techniques depending on their shapes, preserving their natural structure and inner beauty.

The collection features three kinds of natural amber from different locations around the world: Baltic amber from Europe, amber from Sumatra, and amber from the Dominican Republic. Each stone is approached individually, with a unique polishing technique and preservation of its natural shape. The repetitive shape of the ring is meant to adjust itself to the stone, emphasizing the stone's unique character and keeping the focus on its beauty.

"Amber Around the World" was initially exhibited in the Museum of Amber in Gdańsk and at the Amberif Fair in 2015. Since then, the collection has continued to grow with new ring options. The dynamic rings not only highlight the unique and beautiful character of amber but also maintain consistency and harmony in their shapes.

Kaczynski's design challenges included creating a ring form that could adjust to various stone shapes, while maintaining a dynamic and unified shape. The polishing process aimed to showcase the inner beauty and qualities of amber while preserving its natural shape and structure.

This unique collection of rings has garnered recognition in the design world, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2016. The award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding creativity, technical skill, and resourcefulness, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

With "Amber Around the World," Pawel Kaczynski has not only created a stunning collection of jewelry but also celebrated the diversity and beauty of amber from different corners of the globe.
