The realization of this design utilizes slim concrete, a material that offers greater strength and durability compared to conventional concrete. The use of stainless steel for the structure further enhances its longevity. The technical specifications include dimensions for the bench, dustbin, street light, and bus stop, ensuring functionality and suitability for various urban settings.

Interaction with the Mumbai Street Furniture is user-friendly and practical. The bench can be easily converted into a 2, 3, or 4-seater, and features a built-in charging point and cup holder. The integrated mosquito repellant encourages users to sit and rest comfortably. The dustbin comes in different sizes and colors, facilitating efficient waste segregation. The integrated lights in all the furniture elements ensure visibility from a distance, even during nighttime.

The Mumbai Street Furniture project was conducted in Mumbai, India, starting in April 2014 and concluding in November 2014. Extensive research on the behavior of people on the streets of Mumbai, as well as a comparison with street furniture from other locations, informed the design process. The goal was to address the lack of proper seating and resting areas, the presence of homeless individuals and animals on existing street furniture, and the perception of foul smells and unsafe conditions.

The design of the Mumbai Street Furniture faced several challenges, including the need to create an aesthetically pleasing environment, improve street life quality, and cater to Indian sensibilities and user behaviors. Vandalism prevention, street safety at night, and disability-friendly features were also important considerations.

The Mumbai Street Furniture design successfully addresses these challenges, providing an aesthetically pleasing and safe environment for people to walk, rest, and experience community living. By integrating lights and anti-sleeping elements, this design promotes street safety and discourages misuse. The project has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in the Street and City Furniture Design category, highlighting its practicality, innovation, and contribution to a better world.
