Strabo Watch: A Unique and Authentic Bracelet Timepiece

A Pattern-Inspired Design by Rolans Novikovs

The Strabo Watch sets itself apart from other timepieces with its distinctive pattern-inspired design. The diamond loop bracelet, shaped to resemble the pattern, adds a touch of elegance and uniqueness. By removing a fraction of the loop, Novikovs created a comfortably embraced watch head with a rough, rocky-like pearl watch face. The realization of the Strabo Watch involves a careful selection of finishes. The bracelet body, watch head, and dials are crafted in gold, while the pearl finish is exclusively applied to the watch face. This choice of finishes adds exclusivity and value to the timepiece. For more affordable options, a plated gold finish can be considered.

The manufacturing process of the Strabo Watch requires various techniques. Laser cutting is used to shape the bracelet, followed by sandblasting to remove sharp edges. Heat bending is then employed to achieve the desired form, and finally, polishing gives the watch its final touch. These meticulous steps ensure that the design is not only visually appealing but also functional and comfortable to wear.

Technical specifications for the Strabo Watch include a watch band width of 22.11mm, a watch loop thickness of 6mm, an overall length of 85mm, and an overall height of 70mm. These dimensions contribute to the watch's unique and eye-catching appearance.

The Strabo Watch serves two functions: to accurately tell the time and to complement any outfit as a fashionable accessory. The design project for the Strabo Watch began in October 2013 and was completed in May 2015. It was during this time that the designer, Rolans Novikovs, conducted extensive research to create a new and dynamic brand identity. The freedom to explore different shapes and possibilities led to the emergence of this exciting watch design.

The Strabo Watch presented several challenges during its development. The most significant challenge was to ensure that the unique form of the bracelet was both usable and functional. Novikovs dedicated a considerable amount of time to ensure that the concept could be manufactured and used on a regular basis. The bracelet features ball bearings that hinge at each end of the watch head, along with a classical push clasp at the backside for easy closure and release.

The Strabo Watch, with its complex yet refined diamond loop bracelet and rough pearl watch face, is a testament to the designer's creativity and innovation. This unique timepiece has been recognized for its excellence, winning the Silver A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2016.
