High street brands are constantly competing to capture customers' attention and drive sales. This has led to a business-focused experience, where the emphasis is on displaying as many products as possible. However, the Strabo Store takes a different approach. While still focused on sales and profit, it aims to leave customers with a lasting impression.
The store's design is centered around the concept of "breathing" - allowing customers to browse and discover the products without feeling overwhelmed by racks of clothes and sales labels. The layout is carefully planned to create a sense of space and tranquility, with a lounge area where customers can relax and enjoy non-alcoholic beverages while still being exposed to the brand's products.
One of the standout features of the Strabo Store is its dynamic and geometric design. The walls are formed from aluminum stud frames, faced with a layer of plasterboard. Graphic areas, such as the corridor and lounge wall, are adorned with hard adhesive vinyls, adding visual interest and creating a cohesive brand identity.
The main store floor area features hexagonal-shaped floor tiles with brass trims, giving the space a rich and luxurious look. Modular triangle blocks, supported by a metal framework directly bonded to the backside of the brick wall, allow for flexible arrangement and display options.
Despite its unique design, the Strabo Store functions and operates like any other high street store. Customers can browse, try on clothes, and make purchases, all while enjoying a one-of-a-kind shopping experience.
The Strabo Store project started in October 2013 and was completed in May 2015. Located in Oxford, UK, this innovative retail space has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2016, a prestigious accolade that celebrates excellence and innovation in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
Rolans Novikovs, the designer behind the Strabo Store, has created a truly remarkable space that challenges the norms of high street shopping. By prioritizing customer experience and creating a unique environment, the store offers a refreshing alternative to the traditional retail experience. With its innovative design and focus on creating a memorable experience, the Strabo Store is setting a new standard for high street brands.
