TRANSFORMHER was inspired by the need for a versatile bag that could accommodate the busy lifestyles of women. Changing bags with a lot of belongings can be inconvenient, especially when traveling or going somewhere nearby. With TRANSFORMHER, women can carry their necessary belongings all the time, whether they are on a daily commute or embarking on a journey. This design aims to save time and improve mobility by providing a bag that serves multiple purposes.
What sets TRANSFORMHER apart is its unique dual-functionality. It can be used as an in-bag, which is a bag inside the bag, or as an out-bag. The form of the bag can be easily changed as needed, providing users with the flexibility they require. This single product offers two functions, making it economically useful and convenient. Additionally, the out-bag features a unique two-tone color design, adding a touch of style to its functionality.
The realization of TRANSFORMHER involves the use of high-quality textiles. The out-bag is made from Rip-Stop and Nylon Pocono_Nylon Heavy-twill, which are thin, lightweight, and strong. These textiles are designed to prevent tearing and provide excellent resistance to external damage. The in-bag, on the other hand, is made from gomilled (thick) and okford (thin) textiles, reinforced with nonwoven materials. The bag also features additional components such as zippers and twotep-sliders.
TRANSFORMHER comes with specific technical specifications. It measures 262*90*210mm and weighs 250g (0.5 lbs). When all options are included, the weight increases to 390g (0.8 lbs). These specifications ensure that the bag is lightweight and easy to carry, while still providing ample space for belongings.
Designed by Hyun-Jeong Kim, TRANSFORMHER is a result of extensive research and personal experiences. Kim recognized the common issues faced by women when it comes to carrying all their necessary belongings and the inconvenience of having to set aside extra bags for travel. Through interviews and personal insights, Kim developed TRANSFORMHER to address these challenges.
Despite being new to the fashion industry, Kim overcame creative, technical, and research challenges to bring TRANSFORMHER to life. Market research helped in finding the right fabrics and materials, while learning how to use a sewing machine ensured the security and quality of the products. The process of making prototypes was both challenging and enjoyable for Kim.
TRANSFORMHER has garnered recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is bestowed upon outstanding designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.
With TRANSFORMHER, women can now carry their necessary belongings in a convenient and organized manner. Its multipurpose functionality and stylish design make it a must-have accessory for women on the go.
