The V-House: A Minimalist Masterpiece in Hong Kong

Anson Cheng's Innovative Design Blends Layers of Color, Texture, and Lighting

The V-House, a series of three-storey semi-detached houses located in Hong Kong, showcases the impeccable design skills of Anson Cheng. With a focus on minimalism and attention to detail, Cheng has created a unique living space that combines elements of art, architecture, and technology.

The V-House stands out from other residential designs with its well-balanced mix of elements, fine materials, dashes of color, and unique ornamentation. Cheng's inspiration for the design came from the idea of creating a space that resembles a fine wine, where every element works together harmoniously.

One of the key features of the V-House is the incorporation of layers throughout the interior. Cheng achieves this through the use of color, texture, and lighting. Different staircases are strategically placed to enhance the mood and style of the house, creating a sense of depth and dimension.

The choice of materials also plays a crucial role in the design. Cheng utilizes a combination of marble, piano paint, iron with white enamel paint, plastics, and artificial seamless stone to express the layers in the usage of materials. Each material is carefully selected to add visual interest and complement the overall aesthetic of the house.

Lighting is another essential aspect of the V-House. Cheng uses multiple sources of light to create different atmospheres and highlight specific features. Functional lighting is combined with mood-enhancing lighting, such as uplights in dark corners and spotlights to accentuate sculptures or artwork.

With a total area of 3400 ft2, the V-House offers ample space for comfortable living. The design team, led by Anson Cheng, worked closely with the owners to meet their high standards of interior design. The goal was to create an innovative and unconventional design while staying within a reasonable budget.

The V-House project started in January 2015 and was completed in June 2015 in Hong Kong. Throughout the design process, careful choices were made to ensure the allocation of resources and materials was optimized, minimizing waste and controlling the budget.

The V-House has received recognition for its outstanding design. In 2016, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award honors designs that exhibit creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to quality of life improvements.

Anson Cheng's V-House is a testament to the power of minimalist design and attention to detail. With its layers of color, texture, and lighting, this residential masterpiece offers a unique and sophisticated living experience.
