The inspiration for Barin came from the philosophy of designing buildings that harmonize with their immediate environment. The resort's form emulates the fluidity of the surrounding landscape, resembling an iced rock formation shaped by the wind. Each individual room is designed in a dome shape, reminiscent of natural caves found in mountainous regions. This design choice enhances the feeling of being in a warm and homely cave, providing a cozy retreat after a day of skiing in the cold.
One of the key strengths of Barin is its ability to blend seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The resort is nestled into the mountain range near Shemshak, the second largest ski area in Iran, and is only a short half-hour drive from the capital, Tehran. With 67 unit types ranging from 45 square meter studio flats to 270 square meter penthouses, Barin offers a variety of accommodations to suit different needs. Inside each room, all the necessities are thoughtfully integrated into the main body, ensuring a sense of space purity and integrity.
The realization of Barin presented unique challenges, particularly in terms of finding a material that could withstand the extreme cold weather conditions and mirror the texture of snow. After extensive research, the designers chose to use a composite of diatomite earth, also known as a "Japanese wall." This material not only blends seamlessly with the snow-covered mountains but also acts as an efficient heat insulator, ensuring a comfortable interior environment for guests.
Barin's unique design and innovative use of materials have garnered recognition and accolades. In 2016, it was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding expertise and innovation demonstrated by the design, highlighting its technical characteristics and artistic skill.
Barin Ski Resort is not just a place to stay; it is an experience that immerses guests in the beauty of nature. By integrating seamlessly into the surrounding environment, Barin creates a holistic building that complements its natural habitat. Whether you are a ski enthusiast or simply seeking a tranquil retreat in the mountains, Barin offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
