Chaaylee: A Minimalist Hand Bag Inspired by Modern Architecture

A Unique Blend of Form and Function

The inspiration for Chaaylee came from the designer's fascination with the combination and continuation of simple surfaces and elements in minimal modern architecture. By moving the surfaces from the common borders, a different visual quality is achieved, intensified by the shadows created. In this project, the side surfaces have been replaced by front ones, creating a visually striking effect.

One of the key considerations in the design of Chaaylee was to maintain its basic forms while maximizing its internal capacity. The use of premium Iranian leather with an old appearance and antique elements adds a touch of vintage charm, balancing its industrial modern spirit.

What sets Chaaylee apart is not just its design, but also its unique properties. Handmade with meticulous attention to detail, this bag is designed for low-volume and limited production. The use of natural premium Iranian leather ensures its longevity, making it a timeless accessory. Despite its sturdy structure, Chaaylee is surprisingly lightweight, making it comfortable to carry. Furthermore, it can be customized by consumers, allowing them to add a personal touch to their bag.

The realization of Chaaylee involves a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques. From creating patterns to cutting and preparing the bag parts, everything is done by hand. The stitching process is done using a sewing machine, while the finishing touches are added using hand tools.

Technical specifications of Chaaylee include dimensions of 34x22x18cm and a weight of 780 grams. The bag is made from premium bullhide leather, ensuring durability and quality.

As a container, Chaaylee features two handles for carrying by hand or on the shoulder. It has a zippered closure system that can be easily opened and closed with two fingers. The straps are resizable, allowing users to adjust them according to their preference.

The Chaaylee project started in April 2015 in Tehran and was completed in May 2015. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges in maintaining simplicity, achieving a lightweight yet firm structure, and ensuring functionality while maintaining a unique style.

Chaaylee has garnered recognition in the design world and was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is a testament to the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill demonstrated in the design of Chaaylee.
