Warm Sheath: Protecting Hands from the Cold with Style

A Unique Umbrella Sheath Design by Liaoning Shihua University

The inspiration for the Warm Sheath design came from the layers of leaves that protect cabbage. Just like cabbage leaves shield the vegetable from external forces, the Warm Sheath wraps around the umbrella handle, providing insulation and preventing the cold wind from reaching our hands. Through extensive research and experimentation, the design team at Liaoning Shihua University found that silica gel was the ideal material for this purpose.

The Warm Sheath is not only functional but also versatile. When not in use, the sheath can be turned upwards to serve as a protective cover for the umbrella. It can even be used as a small storage space, perfect for holding small items like a mobile phone. The design is simple yet effective, with a low material cost and easy production process.

Using the Warm Sheath is simple and intuitive. When opening the umbrella, the silicone sleeve is turned down, and the hand is placed inside the jacket for warmth. Closing the umbrella is just as easy - the sheath is turned up and secured with a button.

The Warm Sheath design was developed by a team of talented individuals from Liaoning Shihua University, including Honghe Gao, Ruijiang Gu, Wei Zhang, Yafang Chen, Jianing Shi, Chunxia Han, and Mingqi Yu. Their hard work and dedication resulted in a design that solves the problem of cold hands while adding a touch of elegance to the umbrella.

The Warm Sheath project started in July 2014 in Fushun and was completed in July 2015. The design has received recognition for its ingenuity, winning the Iron A' Design Award in the Idea and Conceptual Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-crafted, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements.

With the Warm Sheath, Liaoning Shihua University has revolutionized the way we use umbrellas. No longer do we have to endure freezing hands in the winter. This design combines functionality and style, making it a must-have accessory for those rainy days.
