Designed by Kotryna Naraskeviciute, this unique calendar is specifically created to help young artists from various art fields form their artistic reputation and build their careers. It consists of 12 different pieces of advice, one for each month of the year, that can guide artists towards artistic success.
The Calendar for Artists 2016 is like a small system, structured according to marketing and social media theories, and adapted to the artistic environment. Each page of the calendar offers a short career tip, providing artists with the necessary guidance to make great decisions for a successful year.
Illustrations for the calendar were created digitally using a tablet and Adobe Illustrator. The calendar itself is printed using screen printing technique and bound with metal spirals. What makes each piece of the calendar unique is the use of different papers, including colorful and textured ones.
With a size of A2 (594mm x 841mm), this calendar not only helps artists plan their time, but also allows them to measure the goals they have reached throughout the year. It serves as a valuable tool for artists to track their progress and stay motivated.
The Calendar for Artists 2016 was a project that started in October 2015 and was finalized at the end of December 2015. It was developed based on extensive research in marketing, social media, self-advertising theories, and adapted to the artistic environment. The book "Reputation Economy" by Michael Fertik was also a valuable source of inspiration for the calendar's content.
Creating a calendar that could specifically cater to the needs of artists was a challenge for the designer. The goal was to create a structured, simple, up-to-date, and artistic guide, rather than a cliché representation. The result is a clear and concise 12-step journey to artistic success, providing artists with the tools they need to shape a positive reputation and build a successful career.
The Calendar for Artists 2016 was recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2016 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements, contributing to a better world.
