Green Science: Fostering Eco-Consciousness Through Play

The Green Science series was born out of the designers' belief in the importance of educating young minds about global issues like the environment. The series aims to make learning about the environment not only informative but also enjoyable and surprising. Each item in the series is packed with interesting recycling tips that children can apply in their daily lives, promoting a green attitude from an early age.

What sets the Green Science series apart is its hands-on approach to learning. The toys require children to assemble them, providing an opportunity to learn about renewable energy, chemical energy, and the principles of Reuse, Recycle, and Reduce. The designers also encourage children to experiment with different alternatives, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.

The Green Science series includes 18 products, each designed to teach children about various aspects of the environment. From understanding climate changes and the greenhouse effect to nurturing recycling habits and experiencing solar energy, the series covers a wide range of topics. The designers have also incorporated fun facts into each item to pique children's curiosity and encourage them to explore the environment further.

The project, which spans from 2006 to 2014, involved extensive research in market demand, target segment, pricing, and intellectual property. The designers also faced technical challenges, including tooling issues, costing, and compliance with EU/US toy safety regulations. However, the biggest challenge was simplifying complex scientific theories for children and presenting them in a way that would spark their curiosity and encourage them to apply these concepts in their daily lives.

Green Science's unique approach to environmental education has earned it the prestigious Golden A' Toys, Games and Hobby Products Design Award in 2016. This recognition is a testament to the designers' creativity, innovation, and commitment to promoting environmental awareness among the younger generation.
