Figur Tourism And Congress

An Artistic Balance of Function and Aesthetics

An interior space that seamlessly blends historical aesthetics with modern technology.

The Figur Tourism And Congress office, designed by Kenan Ozcan, is a stunning example of how an interior space can strike a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics. Inspired by historical and traditional aesthetic memories, the design incorporates elements of the past while embracing the advancements of technology.

What sets this design apart is the unique combination of industrial elements, such as lightings and air ducts, with antique furnishings, geometric ceiling panels, floral wallpapers, and decorative wall panels. This juxtaposition creates an artistic impression that not only enhances the workspace but also provides a sense of enjoyment for the users.

The realization of this design involved careful consideration of the existing building, which was originally constructed as a shopping center in 1989 but remained unused for a decade. To preserve the integrity of the structure, technical elements were left untouched and supplemented with visual industrial elements and colors. The result is a harmonious blend of contemporary materials and antique furniture, creating a space that is both functional and visually appealing.

Spanning over 1660 square meters, the Figur Tourism And Congress office features two storeys, a roof garden, and an atrium. The space is thoughtfully organized to accommodate various functions, including a reception area, open working space, meeting rooms, a multi-purpose hall, offices, a call center, and two duplex executive rooms with bathrooms.

Despite initial concerns about the lighting in the workspace, users quickly adapted and found the environment to be relaxing and cozy. This design demonstrates how a well-executed balance of aesthetics and functionality can enhance the overall experience of a workspace.

The Figur Tourism And Congress office project began in April 2013 and was completed in April 2014. Located in Istanbul, the design team, led by Kenan Ozcan, conducted extensive research to find high-quality materials that would complement each other in terms of color and texture.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was the variety of materials used and the intricate joining details. Unusual techniques had to be employed onsite to ensure a seamless integration of these elements.

Overall, the Figur Tourism And Congress office is a testament to the successful fusion of traditional aesthetics and modern technology. By incorporating innovative materials and techniques, this design creates a harmonious and inviting space that fosters comfort and connection for its users.
