Vrecha: Transforming Traditional Vegetable Bags into Fashionable Carriers

An Innovative Bag Project by Ana Golubic Brozovic

Vrecha is an innovative bag project that combines traditional materials with modern design to create fashionable carriers. Inspired by the durability and reliability of plastic potato bags, designer Ana Golubic Brozovic sought to make them attractive and incorporate them into everyday fashion. By adding a contemporary black frame to the traditional bag, Vrecha achieves a perfect balance between tradition and modern design.

Vrecha stands out from other bags with its simple and modern lines. The design is based on a framework that resembles a house, giving it a warm and inviting form. The addition of a bag, used to carry potatoes, cabbage, or apples, completes the skeleton and adds functionality. However, it is the carefully chosen colors that truly bring Vrecha to life, adding vibrancy and personality to the bag.

The frame of Vrecha is made from high endurance polypropylene fiber straps, making it fire and waterproof. The corpus, or body, is made from a polyester mesh designed to carry up to 25kg of vegetables. The color of the mesh varies depending on the type of vegetable it is meant to carry, with red for potatoes, orange for apples, and green for cabbage. The dimensions of Vrecha are 40 x 45 cm, with a handle length of 60 cm, making it the perfect size for practical everyday use.

Emotionally, Vrecha easily connects with people due to its nostalgic appeal, while its durability adds practical value. The transparency of the bag gives it an artistic quality, making it feel like a piece of art in your hand as you walk down the street or browse in a store. Vrecha becomes an exhibition in itself, with the bag acting as a frame for any item you choose to carry.

Vrecha was introduced in the spring of 2015 and is sold in design and concept stores. The production process is quick and easy, taking only 15 minutes to cut and sew the materials together. The biggest challenge the designer faced was convincing people that wearing potato sacks could be fashionable. However, this unique selling point turned out to be a major success, as it resonated with people's sense of nostalgia and the durability of the material gave credibility to the whole story.

With its innovative approach to design, Vrecha has received recognition and accolades. In 2016, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Fashion, Apparel, and Garment Design category. This award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Vrecha is respected for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings while contributing to a better world.
