WM Getaway: A Tranquil Retreat for Arabian Horse Lovers

Located in Alwafra agriculture city, this 180 sqm getaway is a gathering place for an Arabian horse lover family. The design of the WM Getaway focuses on creating a single space where design details complement the function, eliminating any surplus furnishing that would clutter the space.

The internal space covers an area of 105 sqm and features concrete flooring, a white ceiling, and custom-made teak wooden doors. The large windows and door openings capture the greatness of the surrounding views and lights, creating a seamless connection between the interior and the picturesque landscape.

The WM Getaway respects the existing site and landscape conditions, surrounded by olive, palm trees, and desert landscaping. The design seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings, providing a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The construction of the WM Getaway presented several challenges, including building a composite steel and concrete structure above an existing artificial lake with poor soil conditions. However, through innovative engineering and design solutions, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a stunning retreat that harmonizes with its environment.

The WM Getaway was realized using a steel structure roof frame covered with side cement boards, ensuring durability and longevity. The use of these materials not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also provides structural integrity.

Designed by Fahad AlHumaidi, the WM Getaway is a testament to his expertise and innovation in the field of architecture. Collaborating with interior designer Noura Alshammari and structure designer Jamal Gamber, the team brought the vision of the client to life, creating a space that embodies tranquility and elegance.

The WM Getaway project started in January 2015 in Wafra, Kuwait, and was completed in May 2015. Since its completion, the design has received accolades and recognition, including the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2016. This award is a testament to the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill showcased in the design, evoking positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
