One To Three: Transforming a Single Space into Three Distinctive Sections

A Unique Residential Space Designed by Create + Think Design Studio

The inspiration for One To Three came from the desire to create separate functional areas within a single space. The total floor plan, resembling a perfect square, is divided by a long wood cabinet that serves as a multifunctional element. It creates three distinct sections: a relaxation space, a sleeping quarter with master and guest bedrooms, and a culinary area with a kitchen and wine cellar.

The relaxation space, enclosed by sliding doors, offers a serene and enclosed environment. With concrete ceilings and floors, this space is a box full of surprises. It provides a place for the host to enjoy exquisite food and fine wine with friends and family. The concrete box reflects and records the moments of living, creating a unique and memorable experience.

The sleeping quarter in One To Three is cleverly designed to maximize functionality and aesthetics. The media center separates the bed and closet in the master bedroom, while the wood elements fuse the bathroom with the sleeping area. Clear glass subtly divides the different functionalities, creating a harmonious and visually appealing space. The combination of classic footing of the tub, rugged masonry counter, and the Roman X desk legs creates an aura reminiscent of a Tuscan villa.

The culinary area in One To Three is pristine and elegant, resembling the kitchen of a three-star Michelin restaurant. It features an oval table made from solid wood and a wine cellar that showcases the owner's immaculate wine collection. This area serves as the heart of the space, where sumptuous banquets and luscious wines flow into the concrete box during parties and gatherings.

One To Three is a testament to the creativity and innovation of Create + Think Design Studio. The use of wood, metal, and granite in the realization of this design showcases the studio's commitment to quality and craftsmanship. The project covers an area of 228m2, providing ample space for the various functional areas.

One To Three was realized by a team of talented individuals, including Design Director Arthur Ho, Designer Nicole Chang, and Site Supervisor Ying Chou. Their collaboration and expertise brought this unique residential space to life.

Located in Taipei, the project started in April 2012 and was completed in January 2013. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges in maximizing the efficiency of the space while maintaining a seamless flow. However, their dedication and adherence to the principle of "Form Follows Function" allowed them to overcome these challenges and create a truly exceptional design.

One To Three has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
