2015 Adobe Creative Cloud Release: Kumano Kodo

Graphic Artwork Inspired by the Sacred Kumano-Kodo Trail in Japan

To celebrate the release of Creative Cloud 2015, designer Tobinaga Takehiro created a stunning piece of graphic artwork inspired by the sacred Kumano-Kodo Trail in Japan. Using Adobe Creative Cloud, Takehiro turned his inspiration into brushes, textures, shapes, and colors, resulting in a 2.7 x 2.7m light box exhibited on the trail.

Takehiro captured elements from the temple, the forests, waterfalls, and even the local cuisine along the Kumano-Kodo Trail. Blending these elements using Adobe Creative Cloud, he created a unique and visually captivating piece of artwork that showcased the beauty and spirituality of the trail.

The design was realized using Adobe Creative Cloud's suite of tools, including Illustrator CC and Photoshop CC, as well as the new Creative Cloud mobile apps. This allowed Takehiro to seamlessly bring his inspiration to life and create a visually stunning representation of the Kumano-Kodo Trail.

Throughout the process, Takehiro was supported by a film team from San Francisco who documented his inspiration and creation. The resulting documentary provides a deeper understanding of Takehiro's approach and the journey he took to create his final image.

The Kumano-Kodo Trail presented unique challenges due to its vast size and remote locations. Takehiro and his team had to travel long distances, both by car and on foot, to find the perfect spots for inspiration. The filming process also required careful planning and scouting to capture the essence of the trail.

This design project took place from the 4th to the 12th of June 2015 in Kumano-Kodo, Mie, Japan. The resulting artwork, displayed on a 2.7 x 2.7m light box, was a testament to the beauty and cultural significance of the Kumano-Kodo Trail.

The 2015 Adobe Creative Cloud Release: Kumano Kodo design received the Silver A' Design Award in 2016. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill. The artwork created by Takehiro not only showcased his technical prowess but also evoked positive emotions and a sense of wonder.
