Eclipse: A Unique Pendant Lamp Inspired by the Phenomenon

Eclipse stands out from other pendant lamps due to its unique properties and design. The lampshade, made from a single piece of concrete, brings the essence of the moon into the home atmosphere. Created using a single mold, each lampshade is identical, but to evoke the sense of an eclipse, they are slightly rotated at each level.

The realization of this design involves careful casting of the concrete lampshades, followed by the manual attachment of the holders and lamps. The result is a visually stunning piece that combines the rough texture of the concrete with the warm light emitted from within the lampshade, creating an elegant and friendly atmosphere.

Measuring 300 mm in width, depth, and height, Eclipse is a compact yet impactful addition to any space. Its compact size allows for versatile placement, whether as a standalone pendant lamp or as part of a series.

The Eclipse project began in March 2016 in Tehran and was completed within the same month. Throughout the design process, the team focused on creating a ceiling lamp set that would convey a sense of motion and storytelling when the lamps are located near each other.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was striking a balance between referencing the eclipse phenomenon and avoiding a direct representation of the moon. The lampshade's shape needed to allude to the eclipse while maintaining its own unique identity.

Eclipse has garnered recognition for its exceptional design. In 2016, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and technical excellence, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
